Where’s that Runway?
Depending on the procedure design or the weather, it might not be where you think. Itís good to consider the expected sight picture at minimums when briefing an approach.
Itís the end of a long day filled of uncooperative weather, ground stops, and a diversion tossed in to make it interesting. Youíre shooting the non-precision (of course) GPS approach, and upon reaching minimums, you look up and see Ö nothing. Wait a minute! Isnít that a PAPI glowing out of the left side of your window? Is that your runway? If so, whatís it doing all the way over there?
